The Upbeast - Erinys Skin

The Upbeats released a new EP today: De-Evolution Part 1 on VISION!

To celebrate, here's a new look for The Upbeast:

About:
     - Started in March, the idea for this skin originally came from The Upbeats' track "The Furies" released on Drum&BassArena 2016. That said, this character's secondary colour was initially red but was later switched to gold and blue/green to match the colours on the De-Evolution cover art.
     - This skin may not be official due to it completely changing The Upbeast' form (here's the default form). I just really wanted to see what bat wings would look like on him :'D
     - Speaking of the wings, I had to redraw them several times because I was struggling to get the anatomy and perspective correct. The full illustration had to be expanded considerably to fit the entire character, unfortunately losing the small details in the wolf and snakes. Here's a cropped version, close to how this image originally started out:

Art Update: Pendulum 2016

It's been a while since I've posted any art... this has been a weird year in that I just don't feel any motivation to paint in Photoshop :(

This is the last project I completed, an animation/effect test for a new Lord Pendulum skin after seeing the live stream of Ultra 2016 ;)

KP Skin Illustration - "Plague" (Trigger Warning)

This skin was supposed to be released the week of/after the release of Trigger Warning, but it went through so many changes that it wasn't completed until just yesterday:

A little bit about this skin:
     - The skin is based off of plague doctors. I wanted to combine the crow motif the Trigger Warning EP uses with KP's existing look without completely turning them into bird anthros. Thought of a crow mask which then led to the plague doctor mask.
     - Here's the sketch concept for R and G:

The reason this piece took so long to complete was selecting a style. It started off similarly rendered to previous KP skin ills but it wasn't working for me - it felt too stiff. I redid the piece with a looser style and it was looking more like how I envisioned:

After creating this teaser image for this skin, all I could see it in was a really rough style:

And that's how the KP "Plague" skin illustration looks the way it does now! :D

Plushies from 2015

Hey everyone, Happy 2016!!! :)

So much has happened in 2015 and most of the work I've done I forgot to post here. 2015 was a year of plushie experimentation, and here are two plushies I hadn't posted yet:

Lewis here was made for a dear friend of mine, rudeboimonster. He's a character from the animated music video "Ghost" by Mystery Skulls, designed and animated by mysterybensmysteryblog. Even though his design is simple, he very difficult to make. Trying to translate his 2D design into 3D took some reworking, in particular with his hair and his ribs (his back isn't accurate to his 2D design). Other notes about this plush:

- His head is sewn onto the back part of his collar, emulating his floating head.
- I used 18-gauge wire for his legs to allow for posing. His legs were so frustrating to try to fit stuffing around the wires because of how skinny they were.
- He's fun to pose:

Day 30 had a special post, the official [default] skin illustration for The Upbeast:

- Based on the artwork for The Upbeats' LP Nobody's Out There.

- This piece is a mix between traditional and digital drawing. The wolf and snake were done with a mechanical pencil and then the rest was done and touched up in Photoshop.

And Day 31 is a photo, mainly showcasing a large plushie that took 24 hours straight to hand-stitch:
