Process Log 15: Destroy Them With...Centipede

I forgot to post the WIP shots I captured while painting this. It's not much, but just thought I'd share it. :'D

Final Image

Things I learned from painting this:
- Experimenting with dual brushes and overall painting with different brush types. (Noticeable in the kicked up "dust" around the centipede).
- Leading the eye (I originally had the sun on the left side of the painting, but I wanted KP and Snare to be the first thing you see in this painting then the stick dudes, so I moved the sun behind them to make them stand out.)
- Having fun with the concept and not worrying about adding simple stick people. :'D

Super Odinson Bros. N Moar Arts

Some more arts! These were posted on my DeviantArt account first, but I figured I could post them here, too.

My latest obsession: The Avengers and Thor movies mixed with Super Mario Bros. I thought about painting a Thor and Loki pic for the longest time but no good idea came up until I compared their colors with the Mario bros. When I found more similarities between the two pairs, I was immediately inspired and set off to paint this picture. Now I can't stop thinking about painting more Super Odinson Bros. :'''''D More may be posted later, both on this site and my dA gallery.

After watching the 10th episode of The Legend of Korra, I was freaking out on facebook about how awesome the latest episode was. My status looked like: "LoK. WUTWUTWUTWUTWUWUTWUTAEUFLDUSHFLADUFHSA". A friend joked about it being a new dubstep song, and another friend mentioned "DIRTY BASS BENDER". And so, Chaz the Bassbender was born.
He's a DJ but also an Airbender with an upgraded ability to manipulate sound waves. He doesn't use too much of his power when he DJs, only to add a little extra punch to the drops. :'D
I was planning on creating a character sheet for him - just for kicks.

And finally a quick teaser painting for my story "MOTH". After some practice with portraits (in the last  blog post) I wanted to apply it to Photoshop, and so this was the end result. It's the main character, Ryan, looking all thoughtful and stuff.
MOTH is still underway - just drawing more still-frames of important plot points.

More arts to be posted soon :D

Booksketch Stuffsketch

While Photoshop is currently MIA, I've been taking the time to do some observational studies and other random art things.

Movies have been a big thing this summer, and I'm currently obsessing over The Avengers. :'D Snow White and the Huntsman was also a fantastic movie, as well as Prometheus. MIB 3 was pretty good - it was a cute story, I left the theater with a smile.

Then there were other times when I got reaaaaally bored and I would go to Barnes & Nobles and attempt to draw people or sit on the floor at home and sketch the furniture. The hand sketches were actually done about 3 months ago, on the flight to GDC.

And finally, some word art, because I like to make graffiti/graphic looking things with marker every now and then. All of these except the top right were completed 3 months ago at GDC; the top right was done several weeks ago, yet on another flight to see a friend. The design of the words were inspired off of what I envisioned and felt listening to these specific songs:

Tourniquet - Knife Party
Crush - Pendulum
Watercolour - Pendulum
Lights (Bassnectar remix) - Ellie Goulding

Hold Your Colour

KP has a nemesis and it's his father. O_O

This is Lord Pendulum, KP's dad and the two don't get along, mainly because KP struggles to distance himself from the great shadow of his father and many people expect KP to succeed Lord Pendulum. Unlike his ill-mannered son, Lord Pendulum is much more civil and can be friendly to those he trusts, but he does have an unpredictable temper. He's also a mysterious entity that has the ability to conjure and control water. He has a weakness for colorful things.

More facts about this guy:

- Armor has a granite texture to it (comes from one of Pendulum's songs: "Granite")
- The one, freakishly large eye on the left side of his face comes from Pendulum's Witchcraft album.
- It's not seen in the picture, but Pendulum's logo appears at the center of his chest.
- He used to own a short sword and shield, but KP stole it and turned them into the Knife Party logo. Lord Pendulum's a little pissed that he no longer has a weapon.
- Lives in a mysterious place hidden in the vast expanses of the ocean called "The Island" (comes from another Pendulum song, dubbed the same name)
- In opposition to his son's massive pet centipede, Snare, Lord Pendulum owns an equally monstrous pet tarantula, named Synth. ("Tarantula" is another Pendulum song) Snare and Synth don't get along either... Snare being the one always trying to eat Synth :'D

More pics to come of KP and Lord Pendulum and possibly a turnaround for the latter. :D

Oh yeah, and no words can describe how incredible the Rage Valley EP is. :''''D

...and more knives...

Some more KP illustrations, just for fun. :D

This is KP's monster pet centipede, Snare. By his master's command (and entertainment), Snare enjoys terrorizing the citizens of Rage Valley. Although intimidating by appearance, this centipede is lovable and huggable... around KP.

For those who haven't seen the post about KP's background, his pet centipede comes from one of Knife Party's songs, "Centipede".

Marshmallow party!!!

"Bonfire" is another song name from Knife Party, from their new EP called Rage Valley.

I'm excited for their new EP! It's gonna kick ass. :D
