EDM Arena batch 5 is now released!
For the previous Pikachu Used Thundershock playlists, here's one, two, three, and four.
Here's the rundown:
Rivet (Pegboard Nerds)
- Another simple character who's name took a while to figure out, Rivet smashes the shit out of whatever gets in his way (or for fun) with a giant, peg-shaped mallet.
Vario (Savant)
- At first, I had a vigilante idea for a Savant character, but Savant's music and already existing iconography of a Mario-influenced mascot with a Guy Fawkes mask was strong enough and lovable. "Vario" is the name of one of Savant's albums. Not much was changed in designing Vario, he pretty much looks like the character on the "Vario" album, but I wanted to give him a bit more of a "V for Vendetta" look, so I added a cape. Then I realized the Mario universe already has a cape...
Bluetail (Blackmill)
- Straightforward design from Blackmill's squirrel logo, Bluetail is an ethereal creature who's fluffy tail is made of soundwaves and will change its shape depending on what song Bluetail wishes to play (idea from Kezrek Laczin). In this pic, the tail is depicting one of Blackmill's songs: "My Love".
Mirza S★archaser (Coyote Kisses - info on this character here)
The Upbeast (The Upbeats - info on this character here)
Already have possible peeps lined up for 6. Stay tuned! :)

EDM Arena Challenger Reveal 4
This next challenger reveal took some motivation to complete...
The Upbeast (The Upbeats)
- I was thrown off by The Upbeats' name at first until I listened to their music. I immediately wanted to create a character for them.
- The Upbeast's design comes from the two members' nicknames: Downie Wolf and Terror Snake. The black and white colour scheme along with the markings/tattoos comes from the visuals of The Upbeats' "Diffused" music video. The "X" symbol is the logo of the duo's label, "Non Vogue".
- By itself, the wolf form is very agile and has an incredible set of powerful, close range attacks. The snake that emerges from the tattoos on the wolf's right arm is used for mid to long range strikes.
Only two more peeps to go for batch 5! :)

13 Years of Progress
When I was little, I remember one of the first artbooks I referenced was Katy Coope's "How to Draw Manga". I drew so many fantasy characters, equipped with swords, magic, jewels, and the like. Then, years later in high school, I dug up my old drawings of the past and revamped them. Now, 2013, I'm bringing them back yet again:
This is how I overcome creative block: redraw something shitty I did back in the day and make it suck less. :)
2013 version, single:
About Xy-Myrvia (pronounced "zai mur-vee-ah"):
Xy-Myrvia was a fake RPG I created back in high school, but used characters I drew when I was a kid. I made the complete PlayStation 2 game cover in 2006 and the characters somewhat had backstories, but other than that I didn't develop the idea any further.
